The Louisburg City Council adjusted the city’s boundaries Monday night.

The council first approved an ordinance repealing the annexation of about 34 acres along U.S. Highway 69 and reannexing the same parcel minus all U.S. 69 right-of-way.

Council members approved an ordinance to annex about 634 linear feet of right-of-way on the east half of Metcalf Avenue to place all of the right-of-way adjacent to the Hawksbury Ridge/Prairie Crossings subdivision within the city limits.

The council then passed a resolution, to submit to the Kansas Department of Transportation, identifying areas that must be addressed to accurately plot the city limits.

The council also approved:
  •    Cereal malt beverage licenses for 10 establishments.
  •    An agreement to allow Davin Wireless to use the water tower 200 feet east of the Louisburg Police Station as a wireless communication platform.
  •    Appointment of City Administrator Jeff Cantrell to the Marais des Cygnes Public Utility Authority Board.
  •    Purchase of a 2007 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor at $20,709, which is below market value.
  •    Declaration of police vehicle No. 2 as surplus, allowing its liquidation from the fleet. The vehicle is worth between $1,500 and $2,000.
  •    The 2009 city operating budget.
  •    Council members reviewed proposed salary classification adjustments but did not take any action.
  •    The council heard a presentation by Mike Gross of Paul Totta-Humana Healthcare, in consideration of changing the healthcare plan for city employees.
