Evelyn Louise Thomason, 77, Overland Park, died peacefully at home on Jan. 18, 2009. She was born Dec. 13, 1931, in Eldon, Mo., to Til and Laura McClure. She married Carl Wallace Thomason on Jan. 2, 1952. She briefly resided in Big Springs, Texas, while her husband served in the Air Force during the Korean War. They returned to the Kansas City area where Evelyn was employed by Safeway for approximately 16 years. They relocated to Bucyrus, where they enjoyed attending many of their children’s Louisburg High School activities. Evelyn and her husband also owned and operated a small business, Quick Carl’s Cafe in Bucyrus, where she was known for her delicious homemade pies. She retired with her husband to their home in rural Louisburg, where she enjoyed gardening, canning, crossword puzzles, cooking, playing cards, westerns, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Gene McClure and Til Barnett McClure. She is survived by her husband, Carl Wallace Thomason of Overland Park; two sons, Carl Wade Thomason of Overland Park and Brian Keith Thomason of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter, Tracy Leigh Edmonson of Franklin, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be at Maple Hill Funeral Home, 3300 Shawnee Drive, Kansas City, Kan., from 5 to 7 p.m. this evening. Services will be at the same location at 1 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Hospice of Kansas, 15329 W. 95th Street, Lenexa, KS 66219.
