Don and Nellie Davis of Rantoul will celebrate their 50th anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Rantoul Community Building. They request no gifts. Don Davis and Nellie Dingus met while working at the home office of Western Auto in Kansas City, Mo. They were married Feb. 14, 1959, at the First Baptist Church in Pleasanton. At the time of their marriage, they made their home in Kansas City, Kan. They have lived on a farm near Rantoul for the past 48 years. Mr. Davis was employed by Delco Battery for 30 years, retiring in 1989. After retirement, he raised cattle and Boston terriers. Mrs. Davis is a housewife and mother and sells Avon. The event will be hosted by the Davis’ children, Darla Ouellette and her husband, Ed, of Rantoul, and Jack Davis and his wife, Lisa, of Princeton. They also have seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
