The Louisburg boys' basketball team needed overtime against Anderson County on Monday in Louisburg to help determine which team would continue playing and which team would have to hang it up.

Thanks to a shot by Ryan Dvorak with 10 seconds left in overtime, the Wildcats outlasted the Bulldogs 57-55 and will meet No. 1 seed Ottawa at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday in Ottawa. Dvorak's shot with six seconds left in regulation tied the game and moved it to overtime.

The Wildcat defense came up big all night and forced 27 Anderson County turnovers.

As for the Louisburg girls, they had an easier time with Anderson County on Monday with a 54-38 win to open substate play and will face the winner of No. 1 Paola and No. 8 Prairie View on Friday in Ottawa.

The Wildcats took control from the opening tip and eventually built a 30-17 halftime lead. The lead eventually swelled to 20 points in the fourth quarter and the Wildcats never looked back. Louisburg connected on seven 3-pointers in the contest and got good inside play from senior Abbey Frazier, who finished with 13 points and 16 rebounds.

Look for compete wrap-ups of both games in Friday's Weekend edition.
