Jim Dillon resigned his position Monday as the head coach of the Louisburg boys’ basketball team. Dillon, who just finished a 10-12 season, has coached the Wildcats for seven years, including a berth to the state tournament in 2006. He has also coached Louisburg to several substate finals appearances. It was a tough decision for Dillon to come to grips with. “It was something that I decided over the Christmas break, and as the year went on, I felt it was the right decision,” Dillon said. “It is a tough decision because I enjoy the game of basketball so much.” The search is already underway for Dillon’s replacement, but that doesn’t mean the news of his departure didn’t hit hard in the Wildcat athletic department. “It hit me off-guard a little bit,” Louisburg Activities Director Doug Key said. “He is a very good coach and has always had very disciplined teams. Before I came here, I coached against Jim a few times and his teams were always tough to play. We are going to miss him.” Look for a full story in Wednesday’s edition of the Herald.
