Sponsors of Relay for Life will be hosting the Biking Across Kansas stop June 12 in Paola in the afternoon and evening of the relay in Osawatomie to help raise additional funds. Biking Across Kansas will end their ride in Louisburg the next day.

Paola High School will be the overnight stop that evening said Susan Gorman, Relay for Life co-chair. Food will be provided, and civic groups are encouraged to participate.

“We have decided to set up a food court type of event with groups, such as civic organizations, churches, and restaurants welcome to offer different menu items,” she said.

Those groups that take part, she said, will be recognized at Relay for Life as a sponsor.

“We will ask each group to donate 50 percent of their profits to Relay for Life. We are trying to present it as a win/win situation for both of groups,” she said.

Gorman said they are looking for a variety of food options, including a group to sell water and sports drinks and a group to sell desserts.

If interested, contact Gorman at (913) 731-1615.

Kevin: ...
How is this a "Win-Win?" That term gets mis-used way too often.

The way I see it, some organization sets up a hotdog stand, does all of the work of bringing the grills, charcoal, buying hotdogs, buns, ketchup, mustard, staffing the stand, and gives half of the fruit of their labor to Relay for Life -- and Relay for Life lets them.
