Louisburg’s future now lies in the hands of Sharon Zoellner, the longtime administrator chosen to succeed Rick Doll as the USD 416 superintendent. Zoellner is the current superintendent in the De Soto 232 school district. Her contract with Louisburg begins July 1. “I think (the board) agrees Dr. Zoellner is immensely qualified to be our superintendent and to continue the innovative leadership we’ve had with Dr. (Rick) Doll,” said Louisburg Board of Education member John Cleek. Board members unanimously approved hiring Zoellner at a special meeting Friday morning, and Board President Jimmy Allen said Zoellner gladly accepted the position in Louisburg. “I”m very excited,” Zoellner said Friday morning. “I have watched the Louisburg district from afar for the last five, six, seven years, and I’ve always been intrigued with the academic performance of the students, which is directly related to the quality of the educators providing the services in the classroom.” Board members interviewed three candidates Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for the position.

I just want to warn the teachers of Louisburg...get ready for a top down approach. Don't get me wrong...Dr. Z has good qualities when it comes to being a political activist. She is very talented with numbers. She has been a good voice for us in Topeka. It has just been extremely frustrating to work in an environment where there is minimal teacher input.

Dr Zoellner will be a plus for Louisburg. Good decision by the school board. Zoellner has demonstrated that she is a fine administrator, and is very capable of leading the Louisburg school district. She's done an excellent job in DeSoto and should continue that in Louisburg.

To the Patrons of Louisburg USD 416,
Please do not let the vicious comments of a small minority of people discourage you from welcoming Dr. Zoellner to your district. There is a small group of people in our district that are very vocal when they do not get their own way in how the district and schools are run and our school board has been a mess for several years. If they would have worked in a positive rather adversarial manner, things may have worked out differently. Our loss is your gain 5
