The annual event took place April 29 at Sunflower Elementary School in Paola and featured top science fair projects from Paola, Louisburg and Osawatomie school districts.

In the biological science category, all three winners were from Hillsdale Elementary School. Colton Wagner took first place for his bird dinner diner project, Andrea Nagel took second for her bird cafe project and Paul Copeland took third for his heart rate and video games project.

In the physical science category, Jennifer Straub of Broadmoor Elementary School in Louisburg took first place for her project about crazy crystals, Kelsey Traffis of Broadmoor Elementary took second for her project about following the rain, and Garon Johnson of Hillsdale Elementary took third for a project about breaking bridges.
