W.H. and Lorraine Wilcox of Paola will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at a favorite restaurant on Sunday. W.H. Wilcox and Lorraine Bruner, both from the Blue Mound area, were married June 5, 1949, at the Federated Church in Blue Mound. The first eight years of their marriage were spent in a farming operation with Mr. Wilcox’s father before moving to Paola in 1957. Mrs. Wilcox operated LaRose Beauty Salon in Paola until her retirement in 1985. Mr. Wilcox retired from his job as a millwright in 1987. Since their retirement, the couple has spent a lot of time on the farm his grandfather bought more than 100 years ago. Their children are Rosemary and Charles Watson of Blue Mound, Bill and Colleen Wilcox of Kansas City, Kan., and Ken Wilcox of Houston. They also have 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The couple has a history of long marriages in their family including Mrs. Wilcox’s grandparents, Joseph and Louise Jane Bruner, who were married for 60 years from 1874-1943. They request no gifts. Cards may be sent to their home at 20 Morningside Dr., Paola, KS 66071.
