It wasn’t much of a test for the Barracudas, who easily took care of the Piranhas 325-164, and several swimmers went home with gold medals. But, maybe none were more decorated than Mason Koechner. Koechner, who swims in the 9- to 10-year-old boys’ division, won five gold medals, including two as a member of the relay teams. Koechner won the 50-yard butterfly in 46.72 seconds and the 50 backstroke in 49.62 seconds. He rounded out his individual golds in the 100-yard individual medley in 1 minute, 39.75 seconds. Nathaniel Mason, David Bindi and Austin Burns joined Koechner to take first in the 100 medley relay in 1:23.31. The same team also won the 100 freestyle relay in 1:18.64. Several other swimmers had a handful of golds to take home as well. Bret Minor (8-and-under), Nathan Moore (11-12) and Jack Rittinghouse (13-14) each left with four. Minor won the 25 freestyle (23.03), 25 butterfly (31.85) and 25 backstroke (28.18) and later helped Cole Williams, Matthew McIntyre and Trent Price finish first in the 100 medley relay in 2:09.50. Moore won the 50 butterfly (40.53), 50 backstroke (39.84) and the 200 individual medley (3:08.82). He later teamed with Sawyer Cooke, Jayme Shoemaker and Tanner Myers in the 200 medley relay and took first in 2:45.19. Rittinghouse took care of business in his division after he won the 50 freestyle (26.93), 50 butterfly (31.78) and 200 individual medley (2:39.88). Rittinghouse joined Jeremy Grenell, Caleb Shreckengaust and Colin Dallimore to win the 200 medley relay in 2:10.65. McIntyre took first in the 8-and-under class in the 25 breaststroke in 28.12 seconds and later picked up another gold after he won the 100 individual medley in 2:15.45.
