Alqlaf named to Emporia honor roll

A Louisburg student was among more than 600 students at Emporia State University to be named to the school’s 2009 spring semester honor roll.

Michelle Alqlaf was named to the roll by maintaining a minimum 3.8 grade point average for the semester’s class work.



Other Miami County students named to the honor roll include Kimberly Egidy of Fontana, Megan Stoker and Ronette Oestreich of Osawatomie, and Elizabeth Fanning, Shannon Hill and Matthew Ufford of Paola.

JCCC features honor roll names

Dozens of Louisburg-area students were named to the Johnson County Community College honor roll for the 2009 spring semester. Students on the President’s List completed 12 credit hours or more and maintained a 4.0 grade point average. Students on the Dean’s List completed 12 credit hours or more and maintained a grade point average between 3.5 and 4.0. Students on the part-time honor roll have completed a minimum of six credit hours and have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Baumgardners honored at Baylor

Two Louisburg graduates were among the 2,600 students to be named to the Baylor University Dean’s Academic Honor List for the 2009 spring semester.

Katie Jo Baumgardner, a junior, and Paul Baumgardner, a sophomore, were both named to the Dean’s list. Both are University Scholar majors at Baylor.

To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must be an undergraduate with a minimum grade-point average of 3.7, while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.

Louisburg students on PSU honor roll

Several Louisburg-area students were named to Pittsburg State University’s 2009 spring semester honor roll.

To qualify for Dean’s Scholastic Honors, a student must complete at least 12 semester hours, receive a grade point average of 3.6 for all credit course work that semester and have no grade lower than a B and no grade of incomplete in any course during the semester. To qualify for All-A Scholastic Honors, a student must complete at least 12 semester hours, receive a grade of A in all credit course work for the semester and have no grade of incomplete in any course during the semester.

Locals among KU graduates

The names of more than 4,500 candidates for degrees at the University of Kansas this spring, representing 97 Kansas counties, 44 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and 59 other countries, have been announced by the University Registrar.

KU’s Class of 2009 numbers about 8,000, including 2,500 who completed degree work in summer and fall 2008. KU conducts only one formal commencement ceremony each year, and many of these candidates for degrees returned May 17 for the university’s 137th commencement procession into Memorial Stadium. Approximately 4,000 members of the Class of 2009 participated in the ceremony.
