A Louisburg team walking to help raise money to find a cure for neurofibromatosis won first place for its efforts.

The team, which consisted of family friends and coworkers of Nichole Servos of Fontana, raised $4,500 for the first annual Walk for Neurofibromatosis on June 13 at Penguin Park in North Kansas City, Mo.

Servos’ family and friends put on a rummage sale at Louisburg’s Fox Community Hall on May 29 and 30, to raise money for the cause. The event also included lemonade, cookies and a raffle for a handmade quilt.

Servos is the daughter of Debby Hays-Wilson and John Wilson and the granddaughter of Lillian Shippy, all of Louisburg. She lives in Fontana with her husband, Wes.
