Kathy Fitzke of Fitzke’s Photography and Jennifer Fields of J.Fields Photography each won a round in the Miller’s Professional Imaging Baby & Child Portrait Contest. The contest was broken into four rounds, with five winners in each category per round selected to compete in the final round in July. In each round, customers of Miller’s Professional Imaging were able to vote on their favorites in four categories: color, black and white/sepia, special needs and humorous. The final round in July calls for the winning images from each round to be judged by professional photographers. The grand prize winner will receive $5,000 for the family of the child in the portrait, and first place in each category received $2,000. Fields, who lives in Cleveland, Mo., was a winner in the second round of the contest with a black-and-white photograph of her daughter, Nicole, blowing the seeds off a dandelion head. J.Fields Photography does many family and high school senior portraits, she said. Fitzke, of Louisburg, was a winner in the special needs category in Round 3 of the contest with a picture of a little girl named Arianna, who has autism, smiling. “Her mom was to the side just interacting with her daughter, and her daughter just started laughing, and we had to just capture that fun personality,” Fitzke said. “We just thought that was the best picture for her. Even though she’s got this challenge, this child is so amazing.”
