The Louisburg Barracudas swim team faced its toughest competition when it traveled to new South Suburban League member, the Woodson Sharks, based in Raytown, Mo. However, the Barracudas didn’t leave without their fair share of honors. Logan Johnsen led the 9-to-10-year-old girls, and the whole Barracuda team with four first-place finishes, including three individual events. Johnsen started her day with teammates Rachel Brock, Reilly Alexander and Gracie Key to win the 100-yard medley relay in 1 minute, 25.05 seconds. Johnsen followed that up with wins in the 50 freestyle (30.98 seconds), the 50 backstroke (35.89) and 100 individual medley (1:19.38), in which she improved by more than six seconds off her personal best. Brock won the other gold in the 9-10 division in the 50 butterfly in 42.17 seconds. Madelyn Prettyman and Katie McIntyre also did well in the 8-and-under class after they each won three events. Both girls teamed with Molly Rison and Krista Klein to win the 100 medley relay in 1:36.29. From there, Prettyman won the 25 freestyle (16.64) and the 100 individual medley (1:38.18), while McIntyre took the 25 butterfly (20.88) and 25 breaststroke (22.39). In the 11-to-12-year-old division, Megan Lemke won the 50 breaststroke in 45.93 seconds and Sarah Edmonds took the 50 backstroke in 43.28 seconds. Shelby Domann won three golds to lead the 13-14 girls’ class. Domann joined Lexie Whaley, Chelsea Fleming and Kieran Bradley to win the 200 medley relay in 2:33.52. Domann also went on to win the 50 breaststroke (39.95) and the 200 IM (2:58.32), in which she shaved more than 16 seconds off her personal best. Bradley won the other gold with a victory in the 50 backstroke in 38.98 seconds. Jane Wallerstedt won the lone gold for the 15-and-over division in the 50 breaststroke (40.50). On the boys’ side, Austin Burns led the way with three golds in the 9-10 division. Burns, along with David Bindi, Mason Koechner and Matthew Rison won the 100 medley relay in 1:25.05, and he later took the 50 butterfly (42.71) and 100 IM (1:36.15). He took more than 11 seconds off his time in the 100 IM. Bindi had the other gold for the 9-10 group after he won the 50 breaststroke in 50.80 seconds. Trent Price took gold for the 8-and-under class with a win in the 25 backstroke (24.37), as did teammate Matthew McIntyre, who won the 100 IM (2:09.45). Sawyer Cooke took first in the 50 backstroke for the 11-12 class in 39.95 seconds. Jack Rittinghouse won two golds in the 13-14 division. Rittinghouse took first in the 50 freestyle (26.43) and 50 butterfly (31.97). Teammates Colin Dallimore won the 50 breaststroke in 34.20 seconds, Garrett Wilder won the 50 backstroke in 32.32 seconds and Jeremy Grenell took the 200 IM in 2:27.37. In the 15-and-over class, Mason Whaley won the lone gold with a victory in the 50 breaststroke (31.94).
