An afternoon of intensity and interest is coming Saturday as Cedar Cove Feline Conservatory & Education Center east of Louisburg puts on its annual Independence Day celebration, Rawrs and Stripes. From 10 a.m. to dark Saturday, families can get an up-close look at the dozens of animals who live at Cedar Cove — including tigers, caracals, pumas and leopards, to name a few. President Larry Fries said the day will be filled with family-friendly activities, including face-painting, hot dogs and beverages. The event is part of Cedar Cove’s First Saturday series, which aims to improve knowledge of the park’s animals. At 5:30 p.m., staff members will feed the animals, and visitors are welcome to watch. Admission is $5 for adults, and children 5 and younger are free. For more information, call 837-5515.
