| Wildcat wrestlers make noise at Luther team camp |

DECORAH, Iowa — The wrestling season still might be a few months away, but six Louisburg wrestlers recently took steps to get that season started on the right foot. The Wildcat wrestling team joined with Blue Valley Northwest to place fifth at the 2009 Luther College Team Wrestling Camp in Decorah, Iowa. More than 800 athletes attended the 2009 Luther Wrestling camps directed by Luther head wrestling coach Dave Mitchell. Lance Serbousek, current Luther wrestler, served as Louisburg’s “Camp Coach” and provided wrestlers with verbal and written feedback. Students competing for Louisburg included Brock Elliott, Austin Hood, Bryce Hood, Cullen Hood, Chad Turney and Mason Whaley. The team was coached by Greg Darrington. Louisburg sophomore Austin Hood represented his team well as he earned Wrestler of the Day honors at the Luther camp In addition, Hood also earned individual tournament champion honors. This was the Louisburg team’s second year competing at the Luther wrestling team camp. Clinicians at the camps included NCAA Champion and former Iowa State University wrestler Zach Roberson, NCAA champion and assistant Luther College wrestling coach Jeff O’Gara, and All-American wrestlers Moza Fay from Northern Iowa and Charlie Falck from the University of Iowa. Campers participated in team building activities, intensive “Train Like a Norseman” sessions, technique sessions and live wrestling sessions. The camp closed with an individual tournament on Saturday morning. Luther wrestling has experienced great success in recent years, including six national Top 5 places and third place NCAA Division III Championships finishes. Last year Luther crowned an NCAA champion, marking the 11th NCAA champion in Luther history.
