Louisburg’s students continue to prove they’re among the best. A report recently released by Louisburg High School shows students continue to do well on the ACT, a standardized college admissions test. More and more students are taking the test — 92 this year, which is the highest number ever from Louisburg — which normally signals a drop in scores, LHS Counselor Tom Lundblad said. But not in Louisburg. Wildcat students continue to do well, scoring a composite average of 22.8, higher than the previous year with about 20 more students taking the test. Louisburg’s composite score is also well above state and national averages, and five-year trends show no sign of slowing down. Louisburg also scored higher than Frontier League rivals Spring Hill, Gardner-Edgerton and De Soto. Scores in each individual subject — English, math, reading and science — were all above state averages, too. That kind of performance highlights the efforts made by Louisburg’s teachers, who diligently work to keep students engaged in the classroom. It also shows the commitment students in the district have to excellence. Doing more with less is often difficult when budget constraints require it, but Louisburg’s parents, teachers and administrators should be proud of their Wildcats. They continue to shine.
