As of this week, Louisburg residents will notice both a new name in the newspaper and a new face around town.

Aaron Cedeño has joined the staff of the Louisburg Herald as a reporter. He replaces Kristen Waggener, who left the Herald after more than two years in the position.

“I know that Kristen had a great relationship with the Louisburg community, and I hope to continue that trend,” Cedeño said. “I’m incredibly excited about this opportunity.”

Cedeño and his wife, Katlin, are both graduates of the University of Kansas, having obtained their degrees in 2005 and 2007 respectively. A Pittsburg, Kan., native, Aaron also holds a degree from the University of Arkansas, where he graduated in 2007 with a master’s degree in mass media communication. Die-hard fans of college sports and the Kansas Jayhawks, the two currently reside in Overland Park.

Prior to landing at the Herald, Cedeño worked as a staff reporter with a pair of local publications — The Lenexa Centennial and The Olathe News.

“Aaron is an experienced reporter, and we’re excited about him joining the Herald staff and meeting Louisburg community members and business owners,” Miami County Newspapers Publisher Sandy Nelson said.
