Farmers and ranchers looking to optimize grazing resources are invited to attend a two-day grazing school Oct. 14 and Oct. 15 at the Kansas State University Southeast Agricultural Research Center in Parsons. Presenters will cover a wide range of topics including an introduction to different grazing systems such as rotational grazing, the science behind grazing, alternative forage options for year-around grazing, economics of grazing, and fencing and watering options. Afternoons will include hands-on field exercises and a farm tour. Speakers include Kansas Natural Resources Conservation Service and K-State experts. This school is appropriate for both beginner and experienced livestock grazers. The school begins at 8 a.m. both days at the Research Center located on the corner of North 32nd Street and Pefley Road. Sponsors for the event include K-State Research and Extension, USDA NRCS, Kansas Grazing Lands Coalition and the Kansas Rural Center. Registration is $50 per person and will cover meals and materials. The school will be limited to 30 participants.
