1934-2009

Joye Rae Kratochvil, 75, Topeka, died peacefully Oct. 27, 2009.

She was born March 15, 1934, in Oklahoma, the daughter of Willie Ray and Annie Mabel Cutler Smith.

She received nursing training in Tulsa, Okla., and later earned her master’s degree in education from Northeastern State College, Tahlequah, Okla.
She taught fourth grade in Derby and Topeka until her children were born. She retired from Kansas Ag Statistics.

She was a member of Westside Baptist Church, Topeka. She married Milo Vern Kratochvil on Aug. 5, 1962. They later divorced.

Survivors include her children, Linda Norris of Topeka, Terry Kratochvil of Louisburg and Larry Kratochvil of Topeka; her sister, Margaret Rott of El Reno, Okla.; and five grandchildren.

Services were Monday followed by burial in Rochester Cemetery. Arrangements were by Penwell-Gabel Funeral Homes, Mid Town Chapel, 1321 S.W. 10th, Topeka, KS 66604, (785) 354-8558.
