1940-2010 Joseph Michael Fenoughty, 69, Osawatomie, died unexpectedly Jan. 16, 2010, at his home. Joe was born Aug. 12, 1940, in Osawatomie. He was the son of Paul Joseph and Marguerite Anne McGrath Fenoughty. He graduated from Osawatomie High School with the class of 1958. He attended Pittsburg State University where he ran track and field. He was united in marriage to Linda Kaye Giles on May 5, 1962, at the St. Philip Neri Church in Osawatomie. They made their home in rural Osawatomie and became the parents of three children, Tonya, Tammy and Dennis. He began work at Anderson County Coop as a fuel tank driver and later became manager. He then transferred to Miami County Coop and served as manager there for 17 years. He also was part owner of Miami County Livestock in Paola. For the next 10 years, he worked for Sprint North Supply in Gardner. After his employment with Sprint, he worked for Tri-Ko in Osawatomie. He was a lifelong member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church where he was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He had been a member of the Rotary Club in Paola. He was also a lifelong member of BPOE No. 921 and the Kansas Livestock Association. He and his wife won the Miami County Soil Conservation Award in 1970. He loved watching his grandkids play sports, watching K-State win, going to livestock auctions, being out on the farm with his cows and traveling. He was preceded in death by his brother, Francis. He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; two daughters, Tonya Booe and Tammy Booe, and his son, Dennis Fenoughty, all of Osawatomie; three sisters, Loretta Carlton and Rosemary Wilson of Osawatomie and Eileen Keitel of Lenexa; and seven grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the St. Philip Neri Church. Burial will be in the Osawatomie Cemetery. Arrangements are by Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, 203 Main St., Osawatomie, KS 66064, (913) 755-2114. Pallbearers will be George Pretz, Bill Coddington, Jon Wilson, Darrel Williamson, Vernon Bartlett, Bob Bricker, Mark Wilson and Steve Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Swede Swenson, Herman Vail, Loren McCrea, Darrel White, Joe Donahue, Jim Martin, Ronnie Rattliff, Carol Ball, Spencer Booe, Sheldon Booe, Colby Fenoughty and Brandon Maze. Memorials are to the St. Philip Neri Church or Osawatomie High School Scholarship Fund.
