Francis Paul Shirley Jr., 83, La Cygne, formerly of Louisburg, died Jan. 27, 2010, at Olathe Medical Center.

He was born July 1, 1926, in Seneca, Mo., the son of Francis Paul Sr. and Nellie Chester Shirley.

Paul was a pipefitter for 40 years and a member of the Pipefitters Local No. 533. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps of World War II and the Korean War.

He was a Mason for 50 years and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Raytown No. 391, a member of the American Legion, Overland Park, Post No. 370 and the VFW of Louisburg.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Shirley, a son, Kevin Hosey and a daughter, Michelle McCloud.

He is survived by his wife Sharron Shirley, of the home; three daughters, Paula Kay Howard, KimaLe Sheridan and Tisha Bulk; three sons, Bryan Shirley, Scott Hosey and Brandon Hosey; a brother, Barry Shirley; a sister, Alma Joan Renegar; 16 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
