The Louisburg boys’ junior varsity basketball team had a rough go of it during its recent home quadrangular on Jan. 23. The Wildcats faced off with Prairie View and Osawatomie during the Saturday tournament and came away with two losses. Louisburg opened play with a close 39-31 loss to Prairie View and followed it up with a tough 53-34 loss to Osawatomie. Against Prairie View, A.J. Hildreth led Louisburg in scoring with 11 points and freshman Kade Larson finished with six. Adam Daugherty, Keegan Chapman and Patrick Harris each scored four points, while Nate Goodwin and Patrick Storey added two. “Defensively we played really well,” Louisburg coach Jason Nelson said. “We were quick to the ball and communicated well. Offensively, we got open looks but failed to finish.” It was a rough defensive game against Osawatomie as Louisburg allowed 34 first half points and the offensive woes continued. Hildreth led Louisburg again with 12 points. Chapman and Jacob Albright finished with eight and seven points, respectively. Daugherty, Storey and Larson added two points each. “The boys are playing really hard and getting good looks, but they’re jus not falling,” Nelson said. In more recent action, the Wildcats suffered losses to Mill Valley and Ottawa. Louisburg fell at home during the Jan. 26 meeting with Mill Valley, 38-34, and lost to Ottawa 60-28 on Friday.
