The Markopoulos Fire: Traffic, Combat and Aviation Diversions

A fire is underway in Markopoulos, Attica, at noon on Saturday, June 22.

The fire broke out under undisclosed circumstances around 1:45 p.m. in the grassy area.

Firefighters, ground forces and air force have rushed to the spot.

Specifically, there are 44 firefighters with two infantry units, 14 fire service vehicles, four airplanes and two helicopters.

UPDATE FROM FIRE DEPARTMENT:

Due to the Markopoulos fire, the traffic police are diverting on Markopoulos Avenue from the height of Athens Avenue and on Lavriou Avenue from the height of Ippodromou Street.

Kalivia Thorikou fire immediately under partial control

At the same time as the Markopoulos fire, a front erupted in a grassy area in Kalivia Thorikou, and fire service forces immediately brought the fire under partial control.
