One of Olympic Aviation’s most famous aircraft, the Boeing 727, has found a permanent place in Elenico and will now be one of the area’s attractions.
Olympic Aviation’s Boeing B727/284 Mount Olympus was “parked” at Elenico and its inauguration took place on Wednesday (22.5.2024).
Infrastructure Minister Christos Staikouras, who attended the opening ceremony, noted: “This flight is an important milestone in the long history of Greek civil aviation”.
“The presence of one of the six Boeing airplanes purchased by Aristotle Onassis in the late 1960s and used by “Olympic Aviation” on domestic and international flights at Helleniko of Mount Olympus represents the aviation history of our country and connects its two important stations, “Olympic Aviation” and Hellenican Airport,” he said. “Furthermore, I express my hope that the stuffed plane, as a tourist attraction, will enhance the aviation heritage of our country and become a symbol for the municipality, because it is not just an exhibition, but a living monument of Greek aviation history,” he concluded.
